We will teach you how to set up projector outside. This is easy and fun.

There are many ways to set up a projector, but the methods below are probably the most common. Depending on your needs (and budget) you might find one of these more useful than another - for example,

if you're putting on a movie show for friends in your backyard but don't want them to have to bring their own equipment then Setup 1 or Setup 2 might be perfect for that situation!

Setup 3 would be good if you just wanted a source of entertainment that had some audio input so people could hook in their audio player and listen while they had some food and drinks - it's a way cheaper setup with lower quality sound/picture.

Setup 1 - Blackboard (a blackboard is a specially painted-on material which acts as a screen for your projector - the brightest stars are easy to see through!)

Setup 2 - Canvas (a canvas is a white sheet, normally painted on to act as a screen for your projector)

Setup 3 - White cloth (a white cloth or sheet that you can cut up into pieces and stick in the corner of your room,

with the pieces being larger than you need to cover your entire room). Set up with multiple layers of white cloth. It will give you a good show with better sound than setup 2.

There are ways to set up a projector indoors but most of them will require permanent installation and I'm not going to list them here (check out the info at projectorsetup.org in the resources section for more information on that).

Lighting is very important when you're setting up your projector, especially if you want to set the mood for a movie night. Below are some tips on lighting:

Tips: If you have a TV, then turn off all or most of its lights. A dimmer switch (if it has one) should be used in order to set the right lighting level for your movie night.
Light Up Your Neighbors' Homes

When you're setting up a projector, you don't need to worry about your own home - it's the light from the projector that will do all the work.

However, if you have a nearby neighbor and are setting up outside their home you should be careful to ensure that they don't complain about your lights shining through their windows.

If it's not too cold outside, perhaps you can use a tarp (a piece of material for draping over something) or cover up your lights with things like trash bags or some cardboard boxes.

But Wait, There's More!
If you can get a web-enabled media player then you can enjoy your projector using some of the online streaming services described in our "Web" section. If you're interested in movies without having to put them on a DVD or Blu-ray disc then you can use these services.

Typically these services require payment and don't allow you to watch as much content as they claim they do. However, they are a good way to see movies on demand rather than waiting for DVDs/Blu-rays to come out.
